The electronic calendar on the wall flickers — 15th July, 6 a.m. This date pierces the heart like an icicle. In my previous life, it was today that I was shoved into the Corpse Tide by the one I trusted most. And now, outside the door, I hear Georgina Sue's gentle footsteps and her hypocritical words: "Victor Carter, can you go easy on us in this competition?"收起

Chapter 1 of "Who Is the Loser"

I snapped my eyes open; the cold metal ceiling stabbed painfully at my gaze. The air was thick with the mingled scent of disinfectant and decay—this was the unmistakable smell of the Base. I struggled to sit up and looked around; the familiar temporary dormitory came into view. The electronic calendar on the wall showed the date—15th July, 6 a.m. My heart clenched suddenly; this date, this time, I will never forget. In my previous life, it was on this very day that the base fell. To cover the main force's retreat, a decoy team was needed to lure away the zombies. Georgina Sue and I each led a team, becoming candidates for the decoy squad. Governor Zachary Sinclair, Howard Sinclair's father, used a deadly competition to decide the fate of our two teams. The team that kills more zombies stays; the team with fewer kills is sent on the doomed decoy mission. In my previous life, I chose to sacrifice myself and my teammates. I thought this would buy Georgina Sue and the others at the base a chance to survive, but in the end, all I received was betrayal. While my teammates and I fought desperately in the corpse tide to draw fire, the base's gates were shut tightly. Georgina Sue and Howard Sinclair stood atop the city wall, coldly watching as we were devoured by zombies. In my dying moments, Georgina Sue's words — "Victor Carter, thank you for taking the trouble off our backs" — struck me like a blade, piercing deep into my heart. "Victor Carter, you're awake?" A familiar voice came from the doorway. I looked up and saw Georgina Sue entering. She wore a clean combat suit, her face bearing a gentle smile, but her eyes hid a deceit I now knew all too well. "The competition is about to start," Georgina Sue said, approaching me and reaching out to touch my shoulder, but I instinctively pulled away. Her hand froze midair; a flicker of surprise crossed her eyes before she restored her gentle expression. "Victor Carter, I know this mission is dangerous," she whispered, her voice deliberately trembling. "But among us, someone has to make the sacrifice." "Look, in my team, there are still a few kids just coming of age; they have a long road ahead." I looked at her and remained silent. In my previous life, it was her words that moved me—I had voluntarily offered for my team to take on the decoy mission. "So, Victor Carter," Georgina Sue continued, her eyes full of hope, "could you... go easy on us in this competition? For those children's sake, and for mine." I lowered my head, hiding the hatred in my eyes, then lifted it again, my face revealing the same "determination" as in my previous life. "Alright," I said, my voice steady and unwavering. "I will yield to you, protect you, and those children." Georgina Sue's face lit up with a radiant smile; she hugged me tightly: "Victor Carter, I always knew you were the kindest! Thank you. Once this crisis is over, I will repay you properly." She turned and walked away, her steps light, revealing none of the pride swelling within her. I sat on the bed, my hands clenched tightly into fists, my nails digging deep into my palms. Georgina Sue, Howard Sinclair, Zachary Sinclair, and those indifferent Base residents. What you owed me in the last life, this life I will reclaim with interest—every last bit! Competition? Decoy mission? This time, I will no longer be the foolish sacrifice. I will make you taste the bitter fruits you planted with your own hands!

My Child, His Sin

"Mom, why has that man been staring at us all this time?" I whipped around. Richard Hawthorn was standing in front of the pancake stall, dressed in a suit, his eyes sharp like a poisoned blade. "Whose child is this?" His voice was tense. "Mine." I pulled Daniel behind me protectively. He grabbed my wrist. "Penny Franklin, you were already pregnant before you went to prison three years ago, weren't you?" I sneered, "Mr. Hawthorn, you sure have a good memory. But do you remember who was with Irene Wilson when I was bleeding heavily?" His face suddenly changed. "Who was it that had her send me the footage of the bed? Who deleted the surveillance and bribed the doctor after my mom was pushed down the stairs?" "Penny, I..." "You're using my mom's life to force me to take the fall." I stared at him. The phone screen suddenly lit up in the dark, the harsh light casting over my frozen face. "Your husband's collarbone has a tiny mole, right? I've kissed it so many times." Blood rushed to my head. I grabbed the car key and dashed out the door, calling him. "Cameron, where are you?" My voice trembled. "The laboratory. What's going on?" The background noise on his end was unnervingly quiet. "I got a strange message..." He was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly chuckled softly, "Helen, aren't you being a bit too sensitive?" Just then, that number sent another message — a three-second voice clip. I opened it. In the background, there was familiar, suppressed panting and my husband's deep, teasing voice: "Don't make a fuss... My wife just called."收起

The False Death Certificate

The divorce papers I personally signed hadn't even dried when Bruce Young pushed my daughter into a staged kidnapping, forcing me to "jump off the building." I smiled as I hung up the emergency number, preemptively stamping the death certificate—tonight, the first to die might not be me. Three years later, under the new identity of "Dr. Jones," I returned to campus, and he approached me in a suit: "Pleasure to meet you." I raised my hand, revealing the cold metallic glint of my prosthetic limb: "Mr. Young, a pleasure—returned from hell, and couldn't be happier."收起

The flashbulbs flickered frantically. I clung to Caleb Lewis's hand, but my smile froze stiff on my face. The coldness from his fingertips seeped through the fabric of my formal dress, piercing straight to the marrow of my bones—much like the growing chill in our relationship. "Mrs. Lewis, how do you respond to the recent gossip about your husband?" A reporter's microphone was practically shoved in my face. Caleb suddenly tightened his grip on my wrist, his voice dropping to a warning whisper: "Don't say anything stupid." I turned to look at him, only to catch a fleeting glimpse of ruthlessness in his eyes. When we got home, he shoved my hand away abruptly: "Wear the haute couture I prepared for you at next week's charity gala." His words were a frigid command, as if he were speaking to a stranger. Late that night, the characters "Acute Leukemia" on the hospital diagnosis report stabbed at my eyes, making them ache....

No One Wins

2026-03-04
The phone screen glowed faintly in the dead of night, once again a message from that familiar yet alien number: "Do you think you have won?" I walked barefoot to the liquor cabinet and poured myself half a glass of wine. Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, the city lights scattered like spilled diamonds. Charles Sinclair slept soundly in the bedroom, his breathing even and calm. How absurd—after sharing the same bed for ten years, it was only this morning that I discovered a woman's earring inside the lining of his suit—shaped like a gardenia, utterly unlike my taste. "Jane," he suddenly spoke from behind, startling me so that my fingertips trembled and the puck struck the rim of the glass. "Why aren't you asleep yet?" I turned around and swirled my glass, letting the amber liquid shield his probing gaze. "I was thinking about what Micah said today," I let my voice fill with exhaustion, "Am I such a failure as...
