My Wife's Nine Abortions

2026-03-03

In the bar, I was drunk out of my mind. Kane and Rory exchanged glances, and finally Rory spoke up, "Frank, there's something else... We found out that Reed has been using the company's money..." I looked up, my vision blurred. "And," Kane leaned in close, his voice barely above a whisper, "it seems Claire marrying you was Reed's idea from the very beginning." My stomach churned. At that moment, a woman's voice called from behind, "Frank?" When I looked back, it was Cynthia, the company's general manager, known for her strictness. She looked at me with a complicated expression. "You've had too much to drink." "Miss Cynthia..." I tried to stand but stumbled.收起

Chapter 1 of "My Wife's Nine Abortions"

It was the fifth year of my marriage to Claire Stafford, and the spring breeze still carried a sharp chill. That day, I left work early, wanting to buy the strawberry cake she had been craving for days. As I turned the key in the lock, I heard a muffled cough coming from inside the house. I pushed the door open, and on the shoe cabinet in the entryway sat a pair of men's leather shoes that weren't mine. They belonged to Reed Johnson. Claire Stafford's male best friend—and also her direct boss. My fingers tightened slightly around the Cake Box as I stepped inside quietly. On the living room sofa, Claire was half-lying down, and Reed sat beside her, reaching out to brush the stray hair from her forehead. "Are you still feeling unwell?" Reed's voice was gentle. Claire nodded, leaning closer to him. "A little dizzy—maybe the anesthetic hasn't fully worn off yet." Anesthetic. The word pierced my chest like an ice pick, catching me completely off guard. I stood frozen, my throat tight, every breath labored. They finally noticed me. Claire Stafford's face drained of color instantly. She snapped upright from the couch and instinctively shifted away, creating distance between herself and Reed Johnson. Reed Johnson stayed calm, withdrawing his hand and standing to nod at me: "You're back." I ignored him, staring intently at Claire: "Where did you go?" Claire's eyes flickered, avoiding my gaze. "I... I didn't do anything. I just wasn't feeling well. Reed brought me back." "You need anesthetic just because you're unwell?" I took two steps forward, the cake box crushed in my fist. "Claire, look at me." Her lips trembled, and her eyes slowly turned red. "Frank, I'm sorry..." "Sorry for what?" My voice was trembling. "Did you terminate our baby again?" Claire shuddered all over, tears streaming down. "I didn't do it on purpose. This time... it was an accident." An accident. This was already the ninth time. The ninth time, she used all sorts of reasons to secretly terminate our pregnancy. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to stifle the anger and despair rising in my chest. Five years of marriage, and I'd been a fool—believing her excuses again and again, forgiving her "accidents" time after time.

Two Bowls of Noodles

At two in the morning, I rushed out of the emergency room holding my older brother's newborn twins, only to be mistaken for a freeloading mistress at my husband's trendy restaurant. A bowl of crab roe noodles costing 180, the waitress threw me to the ground twice and then tried to extort 88,000 from me. She smashed my cell phone, pushed my niece, laughing like a madwoman: "Charles Clark has long been mine!" I shielded the babies, blood dripping down my arm, and when I looked up, I saw my husband walk in— At that moment, I decided I would no longer be the gentle wife; I would make them pay back every penny, with interest.收起

His Sports Car

I pushed open the study door; moonlight, sharp as a blade, sliced through the still-illuminated screen Cameron Jones was gazing at. That phrase, "The car's dashboard glows hot at midnight," made my pupils contract sharply—he had forgotten the car maintained a constant temperature. I lifted the warm milk I had prepared for him; the bottom of the cup chimed softly, like a countdown. In the next moment, I heard myself say: Cameron Jones, the game has begun.收起

My Daughter, My Strength

Clutching the contract still warm from the printer, the moment I pushed open his office door, my blood froze. "Cedric, is this the overtime you were talking about?" He slowly pushed the woman in his arms aside, straightened his tie, and spoke with a dismissive tone, as if brushing off someone unimportant: "Genevieve, don't make a scene. We were just discussing work." "Does discussing work require being this close? Does it require you to loosen your tie?" My voice shook, not from sadness, but from the fire burning inside me. He frowned, his usual impatience showing: "Can't you be more sensible? Go home." I looked at him and suddenly felt that the face I had loved for so many years was terrifyingly unfamiliar. I bent down to gather the scattered documents, walked to the door, and then stopped—without looking back. "Cedric," my voice as cold as ice, "you will regret this." He probably thought it was just another empty threat...

The Partiality

I gripped the thermos handle tightly, my knuckles turning white. Laughter drifted from the hospital ward—it was Evelyn Carter's, clear and sharp, mixed with her words, "Reed, bring cake this afternoon." I looked down at the porridge I had simmered for two hours and suddenly found it laughable. Perhaps I am the only one in this world who mistakes their charity for love, their indifference for family.收起

"What game are you playing now?" Raymond Shane pinched my chin, his eyes cold as ice, "Sign the divorce papers." I smiled, pushing my diagnosis in front of him: "Advanced stomach cancer. Satisfied now?" He didn't even glance at it, sneering, "Salome Dawson, your tricks to fool me are getting more and more pathetic." A girl's soft laughter came through his phone, and his tone instantly softened: "Be good, wait for me." After hanging up, his glare snapped back to me: "Don't touch Rose Xavier, or else—" "Or what?" I cut him off, "To stop my sister's medicine? Raymond Shane, that's all you're good for." "Go ahead and try." He leaned in close, his breath hot against my ear.收起

"Blair, you've been waiting for your sister Nancy to die, and now you've finally got your wish, haven't you?" Ben closed in on me step by step. "I didn't! She fell on her own, I never pushed her!" He suddenly grabbed my jaw tightly. "You two were the only ones on the top floor that day. If it wasn't you, who was it? You were jealous of her when she was alive, and now that she's dead, you even want to take her place. How despicable." "I didn't!" I held back my tears and broke free from him. "How could I hurt my own sister?" He let out a sneering laugh, his fingertips brushing across my cheek. "You traded Nancy's life for a marriage with me. How shameless!" "I never wanted to marry you! You people forced me!" He suddenly leaned over, his mouth close to my ear. "From today on, you're my guilty wife. You'll atone for your sins...

The smell of alcohol in the private room mingled with a pungent perfume, choking me and making my throat tight. Still, I held a full glass of wine, forcing a smile at the oily-faced Mr. Wilson: "Mr. Wilson, I'll drink this on Whitney's behalf. Please take good care of the project for us." Mr. Wilson patted my shoulder: "Henry, it's not worth it to be such a yes-man." I downed the full glass of wine, my throat burning with pain. But Whitney sneered: "Henry, you look so disgusting like this." "I'm doing all this for you," I said, clenching my fists. "For me?" She suddenly stood up, hooked her arm around Mike who had just walked in, and disdain practically oozed from her eyes and brows. "I was just using you to pass the time. Did you really think I'd be into a poor guy like you?" Mike flicked his wristwatch: "You'll never be able to give Whitney what she...
