A Final Farewell

2026-03-04

I sit alone in the pitch-black living room, my right eye aching faintly from an old wound. The clock on the wall ticks, as if mocking my nine years of devoted waiting. The door opens; he carries the stench of smoke and alcohol, and beneath his collar at his chest, the tattoo—the sun that once belonged to me—has become the profile of an unfamiliar woman. My fingertips tremble. Tonight, all that once was beautiful crumbles into ruin...收起

Chapter 1 of "A Final Farewell"

The world behind my right eye turned to utter darkness five years ago. That day, to shield Caleb Lewis, I took the enemy's blade in his stead. The moment the knife's edge sliced across my eyeball, I heard his heart-rending cry of my name, and his vow that I would be his belief for this lifetime. In the end, he truly did it—at least, in the beginning, he did. His left arm bore the character "Stacy"—my name; on the nape of his neck was inscribed the date we first met, June 18, 2015; Even over the place closest to his heart, a small sun was tattooed, saying it was me, the one who could light up his life. Whenever I touched the sun on his chest, he would pull me close, resting his chin atop my head. "Stacy, this way, every beat of my heart revolves around you." I once believed this would last a lifetime—until the night before our wedding. That day, I had simmered the corn and pork rib soup he loved, sitting on the living room sofa, waiting for him to come home. The clock on the wall struck eleven, and finally, the sound of keys turning echoed from the entrance. I had just risen to go warm the soup in the kitchen when I saw, beneath the open collar of his shirt, the skin over his chest was freshly red and swollen—the sun emblem that had accompanied him for three years was gone. In its place was the profile of a stranger, the outline of a girl's face, her features soft, a tiny mole at the tail of her brow, radiating a fragile, pitiable sorrow at first sight. My fingertips went instantly cold, my steps heavy as if weighted with lead as I moved before him, my fingers hovering just above his heart, unable to dare touch. "Caleb Lewis, who is this?" He suddenly gripped my wrist, his strength nearly crushing my bones, his voice cold as the winter wind that slashes through my chest with pain. "Don't touch!" I stood frozen where I was, watching helplessly as he lowered his head and carefully wiped that tattoo with the pad of his finger, as if it were dust from a rare, priceless treasure. He did not explain a word, only silently passed me by and walked straight into the guest room, closing the door with a bang, shutting out the last trace of warmth between us. That night, I sat alone in the empty living room; the pork rib soup had grown cold, droplets of condensation clinging to the porcelain bowl's exterior, mirroring my heart sinking deeper with each passing moment. At dawn, I touched the scar near my right eye and suddenly recalled how he used to say it was the medal of our love — now, it felt like nothing but a bitter joke.

When the doctor handed me the diagnosis, my hands trembled so much I could barely hold the paper—"antisocial personality disorder." I gazed into Danny's innocent yet empty eyes, unable to fathom how the child who once nestled in my arms, full of affection, had become the "patient posing potential harm to society" the doctor described. It wasn't until the psychiatric hospital called that I realized the truly terrifying thing wasn't his illness, but the demons lurking in the shadows who exploit vulnerable patients as mere pawns in their schemes...收起

Late to Protect Her

"Idiot, hurry up and pack!" Brian's leather shoe slammed down right next to my feet. I drooled and giggled foolishly: "Y-yes... yes..." The tiny camera hidden in my cuff was burning hot. I was Sophia, an undercover journalist infiltrating the illegal factory, disguised as Hannah, a mentally challenged woman. Late at night, a sob came from the back door of the warehouse. Brian was yanking at Lydia, the "crazy girl", sneering: "Even a lunatic has her uses!" Lydia suddenly stopped struggling, her eyes sharp and clear, terrifyingly so: "Let me go!" Brian punched her hard in the head. Blood streamed down. But she lifted a finger to point at me, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth: "Take a photo... help me take a photo!" "Take a photo? Looking for death!" Brian turned to glare at me. I immediately dropped to my knees and pretended to be deranged again. "Give it to Simon... my brother..." Her voice was as...

Kevin Lewis clamped his fingers around my chin, his breath reeking of alcohol and sarcasm as he snarled in my ear: "Jennifer, a fatherless person—what makes you think you're worthy of clinging to the Lewis Family?" I struggled, gritting my teeth: "My mom begged you to take care of me on her deathbed. You can't treat me like this!" He scoffed and let go. The photos scattered all over the floor. "Your mother was a woman with a messy private life. Who even knows where you came from? Is this the 'dignity' she asked me to preserve for you?" Olivia linked her arm through his, simpering to add insult to injury: "Kevin, don't waste your time on this liar. She's only here for the money." "I'm not a liar! My mom wasn't like that!" I dropped to my knees to pick up the photos, my fingertips icy cold. Kevin kicked the photos away in disgust: "Take the money and get...

Runaway Proposal

"Miss Beth, your package." I opened the envelope, and an invitation slipped out—groom Yves, bride Reese. Just then, my phone rang—it was that number I hadn't seen in three years. "Beth, did you get it?" Yves' voice was hoarse but familiar, "Don't go to the wedding." I traced the edge of the invitation. "What, are you afraid I'll cause a scene?" "I'm afraid you'll get hurt." He paused for a moment. "Do you still have that note...?" "I threw it away a long time ago." I sneered, "Just like you left me behind back then." The sound of a lighter clicked on the other end of the line. "What if I told you the car accident back then wasn't an accident?" "What do you mean?" "Reese's father threatened me with your life. I had to marry her, but I've been gathering evidence all these years." "Now they've found out." His voice suddenly tightened. "Listen, no matter what happens, don't trust...

The night the honeymoon tickets were booked, I discovered there was a third ticket. "Jeremy," I swiped through my phone, "Why is Nina Lindsay's name listed with ours?" My Brother's Asylum

2026-03-04
On Christmas Eve, I sat in the corner of the dining table, watching the man I had secretly loved for three years—my brother, Miles Fisher. We had a secret romance that lasted three years; he used to be my favorite man. "Laura," he said softly, approaching with a bowl of meat, his voice still gentle, though it churned my stomach like a storm. "You used to love eating this the most." "No need, I don't like it anymore." After saying this, I turned away and poured it out. His face darkened. "Pick it up and eat it!" It was as if I could hear the caregivers' orders echoing inside the asylum once more. I knelt beside the trash can, swallowing the dust-covered meat in humiliation. "Sorry, Miles, I was wrong. I'm sorry..." Miles Fisher's body stiffened. "Laura... what exactly did you endure in the asylum?"收起

His Live-in Chef

2026-03-04
On David's birthday, I caught Ruby wearing my nightgown, held tightly in his arms at home. "She's just the new chef I hired," he explained casually, but he couldn't deceive me. However, thinking of how David had taken meticulous care of my mother when she was critically ill, my heart softened in the end, and I agreed to his proposal. During our honeymoon, David and I went scuba diving together. Before we descended into the sea, he held my hand tightly and said, "Don't worry. I'm here." But moments later, he let go of my hand deep in the ocean, and my oxygen tank malfunctioned suddenly. I was on the verge of drowning when my diving instructor rescued me. Then an anonymous text message exposed the whole truth: "It wasn't David who saved you. David has always loved me!" It turned out that everything—from hiring her as the chef to proposing to me—was a scheme he'd plotted to drain my...
