The Third Wheel Honeymoon

2026-03-04

The night the honeymoon tickets were booked, I discovered there was a third ticket. "Jeremy," I swiped through my phone, "Why is Nina Lindsay's name listed with ours?" He didn't look back, continuing to stuff his shirt into the suitcase. "She's upset, so I'm just trying to help her out. She needs to clear her head. You know, her brother—" "—saved your life. So you're repaying your life debt with my honeymoon?" I cut him off, unable to hide my sarcasm. "Jeremy Trent, what a blessing to be with you. A honeymoon for three — how lucky am I."收起

Chapter 1 of "The Third Wheel Honeymoon"

My fingers brushed over the flight tickets displayed on the phone screen—three economy class tickets to S Island, with the departure date exactly coinciding with the days of my honeymoon trip with Jeremy Trent. Besides the two of us, the third ticket was booked under the name "Nina Lindsay." Jeremy, dressed in the gray loungewear I had just bought, still carried the profile I once adored. "Jeremy," my voice was calmer than I had anticipated, "why are there three tickets?" When he turned around, a faint trace of guilt flickered across his face, though it was overshadowed by an unmistakable air of self-righteousness. He avoided my gaze. "You know, Nina's brother once saved my life." Of course I know. Jeremy mentioned Nina's brother more than once, saying he was his lifesaver, but unfortunately, he died in an accident several years ago. Because of that, he has always been especially protective of Nina, going on and on about how she was like a sister to him. But I never expected that protection to cross the boundaries of our marriage and intrude on our honeymoon. "Saving your life is not a reason for you to bring her along on our honeymoon." Jeremy furrowed his brow. "Layla, don't be so petty. Nina's been in a bad mood lately, alone at home with no one to talk to. What's the big deal if we take her out to get her mind off things?" "Getting her mind off things is fine," I said, locking eyes with him and pronouncing each word carefully, "but not during our honeymoon." "Layla Wayne!" Jeremy's voice rose several tones. "I've already promised Nina. I can't just break my word, can I? Her brother asked me to look after her before he died." He invoked the name of his lifesaver as if it were an impenetrable shield. "I don't agree." I took back my phone, my tone firm. Jeremy seemed not to hear me and continued packing his suitcase: "The plane tickets are already bought and non-refundable. Layla, try to understand me, and Nina too. She's really pitiful." I didn't argue anymore. No matter how much I argued, in the face of his stubbornness and so-called "morality," it all seemed like my pettiness and lack of understanding. I turned and walked into the bedroom, opened my phone, launched Instagram, and looked up Nina's Ins. She hadn't blocked me from her Ins; it was filled entirely with interactions with Jeremy. There's a photo of two people dining together, with gifts from Jeremy to her—from lipstick to handbags, all quite expensive. There's also a post captioned, "With Jeremy around, I fear nothing," alongside a picture of Jeremy carrying her shopping bags from behind. I took a deep breath, opened photo after photo, and hit the screenshot button. After taking the screenshots, I opened another chat window—the contact was Eileen Houston. Eileen Houston is my college best friend, now a lawyer—sharp, capable, and has always been my strongest support. I typed, "Eileen, help me prepare a divorce agreement." Not long after I sent the message, Eileen called me back. "Layla? Why do you suddenly want a divorce?" On the other end, Eileen's voice was anxious. Holding the phone, my voice was a little hoarse: "He wants to take Nina with us on our honeymoon."

My Brother's Asylum

2026-03-04
On Christmas Eve, I sat in the corner of the dining table, watching the man I had secretly loved for three years—my brother, Miles Fisher. We had a secret romance that lasted three years; he used to be my favorite man. "Laura," he said softly, approaching with a bowl of meat, his voice still gentle, though it churned my stomach like a storm. "You used to love eating this the most." "No need, I don't like it anymore." After saying this, I turned away and poured it out. His face darkened. "Pick it up and eat it!" It was as if I could hear the caregivers' orders echoing inside the asylum once more. I knelt beside the trash can, swallowing the dust-covered meat in humiliation. "Sorry, Miles, I was wrong. I'm sorry..." Miles Fisher's body stiffened. "Laura... what exactly did you endure in the asylum?"收起

His Live-in Chef

2026-03-04
On David's birthday, I caught Ruby wearing my nightgown, held tightly in his arms at home. "She's just the new chef I hired," he explained casually, but he couldn't deceive me. However, thinking of how David had taken meticulous care of my mother when she was critically ill, my heart softened in the end, and I agreed to his proposal. During our honeymoon, David and I went scuba diving together. Before we descended into the sea, he held my hand tightly and said, "Don't worry. I'm here." But moments later, he let go of my hand deep in the ocean, and my oxygen tank malfunctioned suddenly. I was on the verge of drowning when my diving instructor rescued me. Then an anonymous text message exposed the whole truth: "It wasn't David who saved you. David has always loved me!" It turned out that everything—from hiring her as the chef to proposing to me—was a scheme he'd plotted to drain my...

The Last Three Months

2026-03-04
"Tabitha, I have late-stage gastric cancer." On the other end of the telephone, Evan Scott's voice was like a broken bellows. It had been five years since he last contacted me. I stood by the window, watching his black luxury car beneath the tree and his figure, as thin as paper. "So?" My voice was as cold as ice. "Let's remarry." He coughed with heartbreaking force. "I want... to have a home in my last three months." I almost laughed out loud. "Evan Scott, on what grounds do you think I would agree?" "I'm dying soon. Just... pity me?" I watched the leaves falling outside the window as a bitter yet satisfying thought took root and ran wild in my mind. "Alright." I heard myself speak, my voice chillingly calm: "I agree."收起

The Painter's Revenge

2026-03-04
Seven years ago, Harry "accidentally fell from a building". I will never forget what Miranda said: "That ungrateful wretch Harry actually dared to resign—I must make him pay for it!" Andy responded impatiently, "He's just a teacher. I had someone 'take care of him' and made sure it was done cleanly." I suppressed my hatred with all my might, staying by Andy's side, and became his mistress. "Wendy, you're better than all of them," Andy said. Now, the moment of revenge has arrived. Watching Andy rush into the abandoned warehouse, his face filled with panic, I let out a soft laugh: "Andy, seven years have passed. Do you still remember Harry?" His face turned deathly pale, and his voice trembled: "It's you—you conspired against me?" My gaze turned cold: "All of this is nothing but the retribution you deserve!"收起

The Money to Her During My Pregnancy

2026-03-04
Today is my due date, yet Leo Clark is busy tipping "Sweet Babe" on his mobile phone, deaf to my cries of pain and bleeding. Clutching my maternity bag, I signed the consent form for a C-section alone; the cold light of the operating room mirrored his chilling words last night: "Don't overthink it." The instant the child cried, I decided—to sever not only the placenta but this entire marriage. Later, I donated the fifty thousand I received to the welfare home, letting the money born of betrayal accumulate virtue for my daughter. Three years later, Leo Clark was released and begged me to remarry him; my daughter, nestled in Hector Jones's arms, babbled, "This man is dirty, we don't want him."收起

The Most Expensive Lesson

2026-03-04
For five years, I gave Sherry Renner everything—money, life, even defied my family's arranged marriage. On the day of the company listing, she announced her engagement, arm in arm with her new lover Seward James, while I drank the poisoned wine she handed me. In the hospital, I stared coldly at the infusion tube. She feigned concern as she visited me: "Richard, don't blame me—Seward James can give me more." "So you wanted to poison me and swallow my shares?" Her face froze. I pulled out the needle, and drops of blood splattered onto the bedsheet. "Sherry," I wiped the blood from the back of my hand, speaking each word deliberately, "who do you think made it possible for your company to go public?" "My training fee was sky-high."收起

Seven Jobs for You

2026-03-04
I heard her laughter down the clubhouse corridor: "Carlos, that idiot, working seven jobs a day is kinda funny." "A poor man with no background, and he actually wants to marry me?" I gripped the drinks cart handle tight, my nails digging into my palm. "Dad, I've thought it through. I'm coming home tomorrow." Ten seconds after sending the message, the phone rang. Janice Salk's eyes lit up when she saw the luxury car picking me up: "But your family isn't..." "I lied to you." I pulled my arm away. "Now I know what you really love." She came to the company, crying and grabbing me, "Please, just give me one more chance!" "Janice, it's already over between us." As the security guard took her away, she turned back and shouted— "Carlos Larsen, I'm pregnant with your child!"收起
