I had thought that the last 24 hours of my life would flow like water, quietly awaiting the end amidst memories. My cell phone vibrated—the eighty-thousand compensation from my father's car accident had been credited; yet the money became the fuse. My wife, Viola Lincoln, insisted with unwavering certainty that I transfer the money to her brother. And her first love appeared suddenly. Chapter 1 of "The Last 24 Hours"

The cell phone in my pocket vibrated three times. It was a bank notification—the eighty-thousand compensation payment from my father's car accident had finally come through. My fingertips pressed against my palm. A faint scar still lingers there, a mark from Viola Lincoln's knife. The last time she stabbed me, the knife was far more brutal. Suddenly, a sharp pain clenched my heart. It wasn't an illusion—it was a side effect of my 'resurrection.' I only have twenty-four hours left. "Has the money arrived?" Viola Lincoln's voice came from the living room. She shuffled over in slippers, eyes fixed intently on my cell phone screen. "After your birthday tomorrow, transfer the money to my brother." Her tone wasn't a request—it was a command. I looked up at her. Her hair was messy, but she had put on lipstick—probably just finished speaking with her brother. "I also need to request leave for Larry." I added. Viola frowned. "Why ask for leave? There's a monthly exam next week." "To take Mom out for a couple of days." I held her gaze. Sure enough, she hesitated for a moment, then waved her hand dismissively. "What a waste of money! Mom's legs are bad; going out would only be misery." "I want to take her there." My voice deepened slightly. My heart ached again, like a sharp needle piercing it. Last time I mentioned taking Mom on a trip, Viola broke a bowl and was quite angry. I stood up and walked toward the balcony. Outside the window, the phoenix tree's leaves lay scattered all over the ground. "Dad has passed; she's hurting inside." Viola followed me, tugging at my sleeve. "It's not that we don't want you to fulfill your filial duties, but Larry has exams, and my brother is still waiting to buy a car—" "I’ll transfer the money on Monday." I cut her off. Her expression changed, then quickly softened. "Fine, just two days anyway." I know what she's thinking. She believes I can't get away; sooner or later, the 800,000 will end up with her brother. I took out my cell phone and called Mom. The phone rang five times before she answered. "Felix, what's wrong?" Mom's voice was a little hoarse, probably from sorting through Dad's old clothes again. "Mom, I'm taking you to Glory Mountain." There was silence on the other end for a few seconds. "Glory Mountain? That place is far, and the tickets are expensive—" "I've already booked the tickets. I'll pick you up in ten minutes." I didn't give her a chance to refuse.

My Husband Sent Me to the Deadly Game

"Jane, my company has gone bankrupt, and Ryan's leukemia... only that one million-dollar prize can save him." Henry Gordon knelt before me, his eyes red and swollen, clutching our son Ryan Gordon's medical record. Just because of this, I transformed from a white-collar worker into a wild survivor. For thirty days, drinking muddy water, eating roasted bugs, and surviving near-fatal fevers—I held on by picturing my son's pale face. It wasn't until I was hospitalized with a high fever that I overheard, right outside the ward, my "critically ill" son Ryan's voice. "Dad, won't Mom find out? I'm about to break under this act!" Henry Gordon sneered, "Relax. After one month of surviving in the wild, she'll be out of her mind." "Once we get the money, we'll immediately flee the country with Bailey!" So his company wasn't bankrupt, and my son wasn't sick—they just wanted to trade my life for their own freedom. My face drained of color in...

After I Died

2026-03-04
On the seventh day after my death, Frederick James' first love, Nancy Dash, who had been "dead" for three years, was resurrected. They wept tears of joy and embraced passionately. The assistant reported in a trembling voice: "The police have found traces of Miss Limbaugh..." He flicked the ash from his cigarette, sneering, "It must be the remains." At that moment, it was as if he were choking me again, his roar from three years ago ringing in my ears: "Why didn't you die instead!" At the police station, he stared at the jade bracelet in the photo of "my" corpse and suddenly erupted into a mad laugh: "You expect me to fall for this trick?" "Her life has nothing to do with me." In a shadowed corner where no one could see, Nancy Dash cuddled close to him, a cold, triumphant smirk playing on her lips: "That idiot Cindy Limbaugh—no one even claimed her body after she died."收起

The day my father nodded his approval to our marriage, I was filled with joy, eager to surprise Peter. But when I pushed the door open, I caught him cheating with Vivian. "Peter! Did you take me for a fool?" I slapped him hard across the face. "She drugged me!" "You're a germaphobe. If you don't want it, no one can touch you." Three years of companionship, and all the resources my family had poured into him—only to be met with betrayal. "We're done. I won't invest another penny in your company." Cornered, he resorted to desperation and sent masked men to kidnap me in the parking lot. In the abandoned warehouse, he grabbed my chin with a menacing glint in his eyes: "You've ruined everything for me! Now, if I hand you over to the investors, Vivian will be saved!" He forced me to drink the bitter, drugged liquid. Just as my consciousness began to fade, Kevin kicked the...

The iron chain bit into my wrists, sending a sharp pain up my arms. My father squatted on the threshold, smoking a cigarette. "For two thousand, I'll sell you to Bruce—then we'll have enough for your brother's betrothal gift," he said. "I won't marry him! Didn't you see him touching my arm?" I yelled, my throat growing hoarse. He kicked me hard. I fell to the ground. "How dare you rebel! I raised you just to trade you for money!" My mother tried to pull me up, but he shoved her away. "If you keep defending her, I'll beat you too!" That night, I felt around for that old diary. Suddenly, words appeared on its blank pages: "Take your mother and run." I went to find my mother. Her face was as pale as a sheet. "Don't talk nonsense—you must have imagined it," she said, but her hands were trembling violently. Grandma fell while trying to protect me. In front...

Dual Obsession

The sea wind cut like a knife. Leo Chaplin wrapped his arms around me from behind, his breath warm: "Joyce, Heidi fell. Go save her." My whole body tensed. His fingertips carried no familiar scent of tobacco—he was not Leo Chaplin, but Yuri Chaplin. I turned to face him, staring at that face: "You are not Leo." The facade shattered instantly, his eyes dark and ruthless: "So what if you've seen through it? Go save Heidi!" Suddenly, I laughed, tears streaming as I smiled: "Leo would never let me die for another woman." In agony, my heart turned utterly cold. I broke free from him, leaning back, half my body suspended in the air. "Joyce James, are you insane?!" Panic finally cracked his eyes. "I'm not insane." My voice was terrifyingly calm. "Leo is gone. There's nothing left in this world worth holding onto." After saying that, I fell backward.收起
