My Husband Sent Me to the Deadly Game

2026-03-04

"Jane, my company has gone bankrupt, and Ryan's leukemia... only that one million-dollar prize can save him." Henry Gordon knelt before me, his eyes red and swollen, clutching our son Ryan Gordon's medical record. Just because of this, I transformed from a white-collar worker into a wild survivor. For thirty days, drinking muddy water, eating roasted bugs, and surviving near-fatal fevers—I held on by picturing my son's pale face. It wasn't until I was hospitalized with a high fever that I overheard, right outside the ward, my "critically ill" son Ryan's voice. "Dad, won't Mom find out? I'm about to break under this act!" Henry Gordon sneered, "Relax. After one month of surviving in the wild, she'll be out of her mind." "Once we get the money, we'll immediately flee the country with Bailey!" So his company wasn't bankrupt, and my son wasn't sick—they just wanted to trade my life for their own freedom. My face drained of color in an instant, and a cold wave rose from deep within my heart. I yanked the needle out from the back of my hand with all my strength. The wilderness didn't kill me—now, it's my turn. "Henry Gordon, Willow Bailey, the survival game I designed for you officially begins now!"收起

Chapter 1 of "My Husband Sent Me to the Deadly Game"

The early autumn wind carried grit that stung my face sharply. I crouched behind a bush in the wilderness, biting into the last half of a compressed biscuit, my throat dry as if it were smoking. This was the thirtieth day since I had joined the "Extreme Wilderness Survival" contest. Before coming, my husband Henry Gordon knelt before me, his eyes red, clutching the medical record of our son, Ryan Gordon. "Jane, my company went bankrupt, and Ryan has leukemia. Only the one million prize from this contest can save him." His voice trembled: "I know it's hard for you, but we have no other choice." I saw the red veins in his eyes, and then thought of Ryan's pale little face. My heart immediately softened. Seven years married, I've gone from a career woman to a full-time housewife, long accustomed to revolving my life around him and our son. Even knowing the contest would strand me in the wilderness for sixty days, struggling with shortages of water and food, I still nodded and agreed. Over these thirty days, I've drunk muddy river water, eaten burnt bugs, and clung to tree trunks to fight off the cold at night. More than once I wanted to quit, but every time I thought about my son waiting for surgery money, I gritted my teeth and pushed on. Then yesterday, I suddenly ran a high fever, my whole body burning, and in a daze, the production team took me to a nearby town hospital. The liquid from the IV dripped steadily into my veins. I was drifting in and out of sleep when muffled voices jolted me awake. "Dad, won't Mom find out? I'm about to break under this act." It was Ryan's voice, edged with impatience. My heart tightened as I quietly cracked open one eye. Henry sat on the chair beside the hospital bed, fiddling with his phone, his tone casual: "Relax. After a month in the wild, her mind isn't clear anymore. In another thirty days, once we get the prize money, we can settle abroad with Bailey." "But what about our company and my illness..." "It was all lies to her! My company is perfectly fine, and you're healthier than anyone. If we hadn't lied, how could she have willingly gone through that torture?" Henry's words stabbed into my heart like an ice pick. I suddenly snapped my eyes open, unconsciously pulling on the IV tube; the needle slipped out of my vein, and the back of my hand swelled instantly. The father and son heard the noise and both turned to look at me. Henry's face immediately went pale with panic, and Ryan instinctively recoiled. "Jane, you're awake? Why didn't you call for me?" Henry hurriedly stood up, trying to press down on the back of my hand. I dodged his hand, my voice hoarse from fever and shock: "I'm quitting the contest. I want to quit."

On the seventh day after my death, Frederick James' first love, Nancy Dash, who had been "dead" for three years, was resurrected. They wept tears of joy and embraced passionately. The assistant reported in a trembling voice: "The police have found traces of Miss Limbaugh..." He flicked the ash from his cigarette, sneering, "It must be the remains." At that moment, it was as if he were choking me again, his roar from three years ago ringing in my ears: "Why didn't you die instead!" At the police station, he stared at the jade bracelet in the photo of "my" corpse and suddenly erupted into a mad laugh: "You expect me to fall for this trick?" "Her life has nothing to do with me." In a shadowed corner where no one could see, Nancy Dash cuddled close to him, a cold, triumphant smirk playing on her lips: "That idiot Cindy Limbaugh—no one even claimed her body after she died."收起

I yelled, my throat growing hoarse. He kicked me hard. I fell to the ground. "How dare you rebel! I raised you just to trade you for money!" My mother tried to pull me up, but he shoved her away. "If you keep defending her, I'll beat you too!" That night, I felt around for that old diary. Suddenly, words appeared on its blank pages: "Take your mother and run." I went to find my mother. Her face was as pale as a sheet. "Don't talk nonsense—you must have imagined it," she said, but her hands were trembling violently. Grandma fell while trying to protect me. In front...
