Divorced, Yet Dazzled

2026-03-03

I stood alone, holding the diagnosis certificate of a malignant tumor, waiting outside the operating room for my family to sign the papers, while the partner who should have been by my side was unreachable because of another woman. In utter despair, I signed the divorce agreement, deciding to walk away with nothing. After surgery, I recovered alone, only to be harassed and questioned by my ex-husband, but was fortunately cared for with great kindness by a high school friend...收起

Chapter 1 of "Divorced, Yet Dazzled"

The operating room light was still on, its harsh white glow leaking through the door crack and falling on the cold back of my hand. I pulled my fingers back, and as I took out my phone, my fingertips trembled; the screen's light stung my eyes. In the chat, I saw Mike Collins's message: "Sophia, Ruby is vomiting badly, I can't leave." I gripped my phone tightly, my knuckles turning white, cold sweat breaking out on my palms. Half an hour ago, the doctor tapped on the report and said, 'The tumor in your stomach is most likely malignant. Surgery must be done as soon as possible, but the consent form needs to be signed by a family member.' "Family member" felt like a needle stabbing straight into my heart. I searched for Mike Collins for three hours — from the lobby of his company to the gym, and then outside Ruby Lynn's apartment building. I ran through those places twice, called over and over again, but no one answered. Only now did he reply with these few words, so casually, so coldly. Sudden sharp pains twisted through my stomach, like a dull knife cutting into me. I leaned against the wall, doubled over, gasping for breath. I pulled the divorce agreement from my bag; the paper was crumpled and worn from being clenched so tightly. My pen hesitated over the two words 'Sophia Scott.' Tears fell onto the paper, smudging the ink. I sniffled and carefully traced each stroke to finish signing—walking away with nothing, desperate just to escape this suffocating relationship. After signing, the pain in my stomach strangely lessened, as if a weight that had pressed down on me for so long had finally been lifted.

His First Love Answered My Call

2026-03-03
At midnight, I called my boyfriend Andrew Foster's phone, wanting to tell him I was pregnant. But a female voice answered: "He's in the shower. You must be Mia Sewell, right?" The blood in my body instantly froze— it was the voice of his "deceased" first love, Yvonne Baker, who had been gone for eight years. I clung to the last shred of my dignity and hung up the phone. Just then, the sound of a key turning in the door came from outside—he was back. I gripped the pregnancy test tightly and walked straight up to him. "Andrew, let's get married." He frowned, his tone as impatient as ever. "It's not the time." "Not the time?" I looked him in the eye and said slowly and clearly, "Is it because your Yvonne still hasn't agreed?"收起

"Mom, something's really off about this place." I watched the crowd lining up at the alley entrance, their eyes looking hooked. "You worry too much!" Mom shoved the bag into my hand. "Go!" The strange scent in the shop was intoxicating, mixed with a faint fishy odor from the kitchen. "Heather? Come in!" Hank rubbed his hands together, his smile creasing his face. The moment he lifted the kitchen curtain, I caught a glimpse of his son Jack's sharp, clear gaze—like a hunter's. After the shop closed at night, I heard the kitchen creak with the sound of bones crunching. "Heather, why aren't you leaving yet?" Hank suddenly appeared, a kitchen knife dripping with water in his hand. "I'm leaving now."收起

When I woke up, a splitting headache struck me, and a strange little boy was clutching the hem of my clothes, timidly saying, "Mom, you're awake?" The next moment, the door was kicked open, and Dylan Lynn slammed the divorce papers in my face: "Today is Sophia's birthday. Don't cause any trouble." I looked at him with a cold sneer, my memory utterly blank, but instinctively tore the papers to shreds. "Want a divorce? Fine, but first get me out of the psychiatric hospital." "Chris, how dare you say Nancy's death has nothing to do with you?" A cold voice cut through the air. I spun around sharply. It was a stranger, his eyes venomous. "Who are you? Stop spouting nonsense here." I forced down my panic, my tone icy and sharp. "You have no right to speak her name." The man let out a scoff and tossed over a yellowed notebook. "Nonsense? Take a look at this." My breath hitched when I caught sight of the word Nancy on the cover. "Four hundred and thirty-seven drug trials—every last bit of agony is written in here. How dare you claim you didn't force her into this?" He closed in on me step by step. "The skeleton at the press conference was just the beginning. What you owe her; you'll pay sooner or later." Lies That Gnaw at Family

I blocked the basement door, clutching the stack of fake overseas photos. My voice trembled, but every word cut like a blade: "Mia, did you do this? Did you spread those rumors too?" She twirled a strand of hair, her smile vicious yet unapologetic: "So what if I did? Mom, Dad, and Brother only believe me. Who'd ever trust someone as 'superfluous' as you?" "I saved your life!" I lunged forward and grabbed her wrist. "I pushed you out of the way during the car crash! I worked part-time jobs to buy you that cake! Why would you ruin me?" She wrenched her arm free, her eyes glinting with malice: "Because you're in my way! Their love was always meant to be mine alone!" No sooner had the words left her mouth than two dark figures emerged from behind, clamping their hands over my mouth and nose. I struggled, glaring at her. She stepped closer, leaning down to whisper in...
