A Lifetime Paid for Three Years Caged

2026-03-04

The day I was released, what awaited me was not my lover, but his wedding announcement broadcast by a drone. I took the blame and served three years in prison for him, yet he even made me miss my mother's final moments. They destroyed everything I had, laughing as they watched me kneel. Until I dialed that number I hadn't used in seven years—the rules of this game will now be mine to set.收起

Chapter 1 of "A Lifetime Paid for Three Years Caged"

The iron gate of the prison slammed shut heavily behind me, the cold wind carrying the sharp bite of late autumn stinging my cheeks. I clenched the crumpled note in my pocket—Ian Goodman's promise from three years ago: "Jane, when you come out, we will marry." At the moment I looked up, the sky was suddenly lit up by countless drones, forming a giant photo. In the image, Ian wore a sharp suit, standing beside Ruby Baker, whose smile bloomed like a flower. The marriage certificate they held was glaringly red. My mind went blank as those carefully suppressed memories suddenly surged forth. Out of jealousy over my relationship with Ian, Ruby secretly lured me deep into the mountains and sold me to a stranger. The first time I miscarried, I lay on the cold earthen bed, blood soaking through the thin quilt, calling out Ian's name—only to be met with the man's beating and scolding. Later, Ian found me. He held me, crying, and said he would make Ruby pay, but in the end, she only stayed in the hospital for half a month. During my second pregnancy, I carefully protected my belly, but Ruby forged evidence to accuse me of murder. The dagger bore my fingerprints, and there was even a "witness" who identified me at the scene. When Ian came to see me, there wasn't a trace of trust in his eyes. He said, "Jane, how could you do such a thing? Ruby is a kind girl; why do you always pick on her?" I wanted to explain, to tell him everything was Ruby's scheme, but he simply refused to listen. He left me with only one sentence: "I'll try to get you a lighter sentence," then turned and walked away. However that sentence was for three years. "Jane, long time no see." Ruby's voice came from behind me. She linked arms with Ian and casually shook the diamond ring on her hand. I fixed my gaze on her, sharp as a blade. "Where is my mother? Before I came out, she sent me a letter through someone." Ruby sneered, running a hand through her hair. "Mrs. Sheen? She passed away last month. When she left, she didn't have a single person by her side. It was truly pitiful." "What did you say?" I rushed forward, trying to grab her collar, but Ian pushed me away with one hand. Ruby collapsed to the ground, a wound appearing on her wrist without my noticing, blood slowly seeping out. "Ian, look at Jane—I was only stating facts. Why is she so rude?" She looked at Ian with a wronged expression, tears flowing like broken strings of pearls. Ian crouched down to help her up, then turned to me with eyes full of disgust. "Jane, you just got out and you're already stirring up trouble. Do you want to go back in again?" When he pressed his palm against my chest, I didn't flinch; I only felt my heart shatter, a pain so fierce that even breathing was difficult. Behind him, Ruby flashed me a victory sign, her eyes like poisoned needles.

The Tattoo for Our 7th Anniversary

2026-03-04
On our 7th anniversary, I was filled with joy, waiting to fulfill our tattoo promise with Tina. "Tina, once this tattoo is inked, our love will be etched into our bones and blood!" I said. "Of course it will. I've been looking forward to this day for ages," she replied. When we arrived at the tattoo parlor, Tina's distant cousin Raymond greeted us with a fake smile. "Tina, Peter, don't worry—you can trust me," he said. After the tattoo was done, I happily looked at the mirror, only to be struck dumb with shock. My tattoo clearly read: "Capital City's Number One Simp". "It's just a joke, isn't it?" Tina actually took Raymond's side. "A joke? This malicious humiliation is a joke?" I was furious. When I looked at her tattoo, I saw Raymond's name on it—and my heart plummeted into an ice cave instantly. "Peter, have you had enough?" she snapped. I let out a cold laugh. "Starting today,...

"Natalie, the year's first blessing got at X Temple is not only Bruce Green's life-prolonging talisman, but also your destined tribulation. Are you certain you want to go for it?" asked my master. I clenched the fortune chart tightly in my hand. "The old man entrusted his family to me on his deathbed. I cannot let the Green Family fall into ruin in Bruce's hands." "He doesn't recognize you at all, and even treats you like a lowly ant. You've gone undercover in his company for three years, and saved him from danger three times. When has he ever looked at you squarely?" my master said. Bruce's icy words echoed vividly in my mind in an instant: "Natalie, stop pestering me with this feudal superstition. Whatever Stacy wants, I'll give her without a second thought." I ground my teeth and replied, "What I want is not his approval, but to keep my promise." My master handed me a peachwood hairpin....

That trust lasted five whole years. "Wendy, it's time to pay the tuition fees again. I haven't gotten my part-time salary yet..." "I've transferred the money to your card. Let me know if it's not enough." "Wendy, all my classmates wear designer brands. I feel a bit inferior..." "Send me your address. I'll mail you a few custom-made suits." "Wendy, I want to start a business. I'm short of three million in startup capital..." "It'll be in your account tomorrow." "Wendy, once the company stabilizes, I'll marry you in style!" "Okay. Adoption Scam in the Hospital Ward

The pungent smell of disinfectant pierced my nostrils sharply. I lay weakly in the VIP ward, a hollow ache gnawing at my lower abdomen—this was the seventh miscarriage in my five-year marriage. Squeak! The ward door was suddenly thrown open. Mario walked in holding a swaddle, his eyes flickering: "Jessica, this child has had a tough life. His mother is gone—will you adopt him?" I looked at that chubby pink little face, and my heart softened instantly: "I'll raise him." But that night, a conversation from the study hit me like a thunderbolt: "She can't even keep her own child. Raising one will keep her in line. Once I build a relationship with Alan, I'll file for divorce, and she'll have to leave with nothing." So this was all their scheme! Trembling all over, I pushed open the door and confronted them: "Is this child yours and Ruby's? You tricked me into adopting him just to make me leave with...

After He Knows My Dad Backs Him Up

I stood in front of the door to that private room—familiar yet unfamiliar. Taking a deep breath, I pushed it open slowly. "Well, isn't this Daisy? What a rare guest." Leo's repulsive voice rang out. "Mr. Shawn is now the boss of a listed company. If Daisy can be with him again, wouldn't she reach the top in one step?" I looked up, and my gaze met Gavin's eyes—the very ones I had once been obsessed with. But now, they were filled with nothing but strangeness and a sense of superiority. "I heard you opened a small art gallery. If you are short of money, you can just say so." He casually handed over a black card, and the condescending pity in his tone made me sick. "I don't need it," I replied coldly. "Back then, she begged you nonstop to marry her. Now even after the divorce, she still comes here to leech off your fame—she really has no...
