The Treasure in the Junkyard

2026-03-03

Married into this family for three years, I feel like I'm sinking into an abyss, tormented day after day. My mother-in-law favors my widowed sister-in-law, dumping all the dirty, hard work on me. That day at the dinner table, my widowed sister-in-law casually talked about her easy job at the Supply and Marketing Cooperative, while I was sent off to the Junkyard. Just as I was about to fight back, a child's voice suddenly warned me in my head. Gritting my teeth, I agreed—and from then on, I stepped into a strange life full of schemes and so-called "treasures."收起

Chapter 1 of "The Treasure in the Junkyard"

Married to Leo Carter for exactly three years, my days feel soaked in bitterness, harder and harder to endure. Leo is the backbone of the family, working himself to the bone every day at the factory, but mother-in-law never once cared about him. She was completely wrapped up in missing our sacrificed eldest brother, and that made her spoil the widowed sister-in-law, Mindy Lewis, in every way. The good things at home always went first to Mindy; by the time they got to me, there were only leftovers and endless chores waiting. On the day the factory handed out work quotas, the atmosphere around the dinner table was so heavy it was hard to breathe. Mindy Lewis was the first to break the silence, picking up a piece of fatty, tender braised pork and putting it into mother-in-law's bowl, her voice sickeningly sweet: "Mom, the job at the Supply and Marketing Cooperative is all settled—I start next week. Whenever you want to buy something, just tell me in advance; I'll save you the freshest stuff." Mother-in-law's eyes narrowed into a slant as she smiled, nodding over and over, "Good, good, our Mindy really is something. Loving you wasn't for nothing." When she finished speaking, she looked up at me, and her smile vanished instantly—the coldness in her voice was like ice: "Melissa, the Junkyard needs a guard. You're going." I gripped my chopsticks so hard my knuckles went white. Just as I was about to protest, an anxious child's voice echoed in my mind: "Mom! Don't fight! In your past life, you 'won' this argument, but she framed you for stealing and sent you to a labor camp. That's why I never came into this world!" "Come on, say yes! There are treasures hidden in the Junkyard—rosewood furniture being used as firewood, and a blue-and-white porcelain vase propping up a table leg! In less than three years, we could trade up for a whole courtyard house in J City!" I took a deep breath, slowly put down my chopsticks, and looked up at Mindy, forcing a meek smile onto my face: "Alright, I'll take the job." Leo Carter suddenly looked up at me, eyes filled with utter disbelief and contempt: "Are you crazy? That place is dirty and exhausting, full of junk. Do you really think you can handle it?" "Even if you can't handle it, you just have to," I lowered my eyes, my voice soft and weak. "Someone in the family has to work. We can't let Mindy bear all the burden alone; after all, she has that respectable job at the Supply and Marketing Cooperative." Mindy Lewis raised an eyebrow, a smug smile tugging at her lips, her tone full of fake pity: "You are so sensible. Don't worry, I'll come visit you often whenever I get the chance."

The Conspiracy We Wove

"Liliana Harrison, what a coincidence." In the corridor outside the teaching seminar, he stopped me, his voice low. I raised my eyes coldly. "Mr. Leonard, do we know each other?" He stepped closer. "Three years have passed, and you won't even listen to a single truth from me?" "Truth?" I sneered. "Why didn't you speak the truth when you stood by while I was falsely accused back then?" "I had my reasons..." "Reasons?" I cut him off, pressing my fingertip into my palm. "Your reasons were trampling me into the mud with your new lover, weren't they?" At that moment, his fiancée, Sara Burke, linked her arm with his, smiling radiantly: "Miss Liliana, I heard your father is ill? If you need money, just say the word." I fixed my gaze on Jacob Leonard's face and enunciated each word: "Do you really believe I'm still the Liliana you manipulated three years ago?" He suddenly grabbed my wrist. "What do you...

Betrayal After Five Years of Marriage

2026-03-03
I placed that limited-edition watch into her palm with my own hands, only to find someone else's reflection in her eyes. She said the company was busy and she had no time for the Valentine's Day, yet she turned away and booked a plane ticket to M Country with her assistant. I lingered in the empty living room, hearing the cicadas chirp as if mocking me, smelling a strange woody scent fermenting in the air. Only when the red scarf was returned to me did I realize that five years of marriage was nothing but a carefully staged betrayal. That night, for the first time, I wanted to win—win back my dignity, and win back the truth.收起

I Exposed Her Lie

I caught the lingering scent of perfume on Emily's coat, my knuckles whitening as I clenched my fists. "That's not your perfume. Tell me—who were you with?" Her hands, busy tying her apron, froze. When she turned around, her smile looked stiff and forced. "What are you getting so worked up about? I just popped down to the supermarket downstairs." "Did you need to wear men's cologne to go grocery shopping?" I stepped closer, my voice dropping to a low, dangerous growl. "This is the third time you've 'gone to buy soy sauce'. Emily, do you take me for a fool?" Her face paled dramatically, then quickly turned cold. "Frank, stop being so unreasonable! I just..." "Just went to see Jarvis?" I cut her off sharply. Watching her face drain of all color in an instant, my heart twisted painfully. "Wasn't he supposed to have gone abroad ages ago? Have you two even cut ties at all?" Emily suddenly lifted...

Don't Marry Him

One month before the wedding, my future self traveled back to warn me: my fiancé only sees me as a substitute and will be abusive after we marry. I didn't believe it until I saw with my own eyes how he fawned over his first love and was already planning to divorce immediately after the wedding. I pretended to go along, but on the wedding day, I played a scandal video of his mistress in public, grabbed my suitcase, and walked out with style. Ten years later, before he went to prison, he begged for my forgiveness—but I never looked back.收起

More Than an Assistant

The night before the wedding, I ran into Sarah and Simon downstairs in the wedding suite. Simon's hand rested on her shoulder, intimate and casual. "William?" Sarah turned around, her voice devoid of any fluster, only cold detachment. Simon scoffed, pulling her tighter into his arms. "William, did you really think Sarah wanted to marry you? It was just that I never gave my okay." I clenched my fists, my gaze fixed on Sarah. "Is he telling the truth? Five years of being by your side—does it all mean less than a single word from him?" Sarah averted her eyes. "William, there's no need to play dumb anymore. You were just the most convenient choice." "Convenient?" My throat tightened. "I tore up my job offer, stayed up with you through countless sleepless nights—and this is what I get? A 'convenient' label?" Simon stepped forward, his eyes glinting with provocation. "What else did you expect? Did you actually think you were...

He Pays With His Life

The guests' blessings still echoed in my ears when the giant LED screen suddenly lit up. On the screen appeared a photo of me, disheveled and lying on a bed; beside me was Leo, the man Kevin despises with all his heart. After the deadly silence, whispers began, and those piercing gazes felt as sharp as needles. A chill ran through me as I turned to look at Kevin beside me. "Kevin, this isn't me! The photos are fake!" He coldly said to the Master of Ceremonies: "Continue." The wedding concluded in an eerie silence. To spite me, Kevin lay on our wedding bed, holding my naked stepsister Yvonne in his arms. "Cindy, a b*tch like you doesn't deserve to marry me." "I didn't!" I screamed hoarsely, "She's framing me!" Yvonne nestled against him, smiling triumphantly: "When you do wrong, you have to admit it." Kevin raised his hand, clutching my neck and pressed me against the wall: "Remember your...
