After being reincarnated, I was back in that car driving on the highway. Just because the car behind honked, my boyfriend and my best friend cursed loudly, slamming the brakes to deliberately block the car behind. In my past life, I begged my boyfriend to give way. Chapter 1 of "The Highway Racing"

I died in a damp basement. Covered in wounds, my throat was hoarse—I couldn't make a sound. Through the haze, I thought I saw Eric Jones's face again. He was dressed in a sharp suit, looking down at me with utter coldness in his eyes. "If you hadn't stopped her back then, how could Rachel Xavier have ended up like this?" That sentence pierced my already shattered heart like a poisoned needle. Before my consciousness completely faded into darkness, I had only one thought—if I could live it all over, I'd never bother myself with these idiots again. Beep beep!! The sharp blast of a car horn yanked me back to reality. I trembled in shock, instinctively clutching my bag tighter. Looking up, Rachel Xavier in the passenger seat was twisting her head, furiously shouting at the car behind. Her hair was styled in big waves, nails painted bright red, and now she was pointing a finger at the car behind, saliva nearly splattering onto the window. "How dare you honk with a cheap car? Don't you see we're riding in a luxury vehicle?" "You clueless fool, today you'll learn a lesson!" After saying that, she turned back to Eric Jones in the driver's seat, her voice instantly softening, carrying a hint of aggrieved teasing. "Eric, look at him bullying me! Hurry and stop him—don't let him win over us!" Eric Jones tightened his grip on the steering wheel, his face wearing a desperate smile. "Rachel, don't be mad. I'll block him right now. I promise he won't even catch a glimpse of our tail lights." I sat in the back seat, staring at this all-too-familiar scene, my heart pounding fiercely. I was really reborn. Reborn on the day Eric Jones and Rachel Xavier were recklessly racing in the highway's passing lane. I glanced out the window; the license plate of the car behind was crystal clear—JA88888. In my past life, it was seeing that license plate that made me realize the car behind belonged to Calvin Luke's crew. Who's Calvin Luke? He's the one nobody in the Capital City dares to cross. Rumor has it, back then, if someone got in his way, he made sure they disappeared from the city entirely. Back then, I still clung to a sliver of hope, thinking I could talk Eric Jones down. I told him how dangerous that license plate was, warned him about the risks of cutting in on the highway. Eric was annoyed at first, but I convinced him eventually, and he finally gave way. I thought I had saved them—and myself. But what happened in the end? Rachel Xavier threw a fit for days after Eric Jones asked her to step aside, claiming Eric didn't care about her. She ended up drowning her sorrows at a bar, got drunk in the streets, and was beaten to death by some thugs. Eric Jones held Rachel's lifeless body, crying like the world was ending, then turned around and proposed to me. I was so naive back then, thinking he'd finally seen reason and wanted to build a life with me. Until on our wedding night, he drugged me and sold me to human traffickers. He said it was all my fault that Rachel died. If I hadn't held her back, Rachel wouldn't have gotten so angry and gone to the bar; If I hadn't been afraid of that license plate, he wouldn't have given way, and Rachel Xavier wouldn't have felt so wronged. Now that I think about it, I was truly blind to fall for a man who can't tell right from wrong. "Viola Lincoln, what are you doing?" Rachel's voice dragged me out of my thoughts. She turned her head, eyes dripping with contempt, as if I were some insignificant trash. "What? You think it was wrong for me to have Eric block him?" Eric Jones quickly backed Rachel up, his tone thick with loyalty to her. "Viola, you're just a coward." "Rachel just wanted to teach that rude guy a lesson. It's no big deal. Don't ruin our mood." Watching them chime in together like that, the hatred inside me nearly spilled over. But I knew it wasn't the right moment to snap.

"Nancy, Olivia," Elias Foster inhaled from his cigar, the smoke revealing the face I had known for three lifetimes. "This time, I'm not choosing." "What do you mean?" Olivia Jordan's voice shook. "I mean," he stood, "I want both of you." I snapped my head up. "You're crazy!" He let out a low laugh. "In three days, the three of us will be married." He rose like a man passing a death sentence. "Don't even think about running. Your parents' lives, the company's debts—they're all in my grip." Olivia Jordan collapsed onto the sofa. "Nancy," she gripped me, "are we... going to die again?" I met her desperate gaze. "No." My voice was cold as I said, "This time, he will be the one to die."收起

"Finlay Crystal, congratulations! With a 1 billion order, the company has decided to reward you with 8 million and promote you to Technical Director next week!" But three days later, the finance department doused me with a bucket of cold water: "Your bonus was taken by Hector Xavier, personally signed off by Mr. Zimmerman." I stormed into Mr. Zimmerman's office: "He hasn't even touched the core code, so on what grounds?" "This is the company's decision." He avoided my gaze and said, "Hector Xavier has more potential." The HR notice was even harsher: "Effective immediately, you are transferred to the Logistics Department to handle cleaning duties." "Cleaner?" I almost laughed out loud, "You mean you want me to clean toilets?" "If you don't accept, it will be considered automatic resignation." At the staff meeting, Georgina Lopez publicly announced, "Finlay Crystal is reassigned to the Cleaning Post, effective immediately." Laughter erupted throughout the conference room. Hector Xavier stood beside her, unable...

Cindy kicked the door open. "Sarah, Alex and I have been together for a long time already. This is the couple necklace he gave me." She flicked the chain around her neck, her tone arrogant and ostentatious. I slammed the payment receipt down on the table. "He told me he was short on cash and skipped our second anniversary gift—so he spent all that money on you instead?" "He helped me get clues during the murder mystery game. That proves he has me in his heart. You're just his past now." Alex burst in and pulled her away. "Sarah, don't believe her. She's the one who's been clinging to me!" I grabbed him by the collar. "Then were you also forced to wear the men's version around your neck? What about the hotel bill?" Cindy wriggled out of his grip and leaned in to whisper in my ear. "This is nothing. The things he's done for me are far more...

I clenched my fists, a determined glint flashing in my eyes. "Dad, we can't let them use us anymore. I died such a terrible death in my last life; this time, I'm going to make them pay!" "But the strength of N Fortress..." My father trailed off, unable to finish his sentence. "Strength?" I let out a cold laugh. "Without our technology and supplies, they're nothing. Just wait—this is where the real Apocalypse survival battle begins!" Just as I was about to go out and gather the core members...

The twelfth layer of lace on my wedding gown had just swept across the red carpet when I saw her enter—wearing the identical mist-blue bridesmaid dress, down to the diamond brooch pinned to her chest, indistinguishable from mine. She shook the microphone at me, smiling innocently, "Tina, do I look like you?" I turned my head toward the groom beside me; his Adam's apple bobbed, yet he couldn't utter a single word in my defense. What I had believed to be a fairy tale was merely a shadow cast by the three of us. So, I lifted my hemline and, in front of all the guests, turned toward the side door—I would not be marrying today; the story was only just beginning.收起
