I am an orthopedic doctor at the Municipal Hospital. My dearest cousin, a rising star in gymnastics, was injured during training and brought into my operating room. Unexpectedly, my husband ordered a newly admitted lousy doctor at the hospital to replace critical surgical materials, which caused nerve adhesion in my cousin's leg and ultimately led to amputation. When she woke up, she broke down emotionally, and eventually died from blood loss...收起

Chapter 1 of "The Deadly Gymnastics"

My name is Blair Scott, and I am an attending orthopedic doctor at the Municipal Hospital. Today, the operating room lights were blinding, and lying beneath them was my cousin, Shirley Lincoln. Shirley Lincoln is a key member of the provincial gymnastics team. Yesterday, during training, she fell from the balance beam and fractured her left leg. When she was admitted to the hospital, she was still smiling and told me she was confident she could make it to the championship at the end of the month. Just as we were arranging the surgery, Associate Dean Michael Carter suddenly pushed the door open. Michael is my partner; we've been together for three years. He always says he wants to protect me. "Blair, let Yolanda help you." Behind him was a girl in a lab coat—his childhood friend, Yolanda, who had just secured a position at the hospital through connections last week. I frowned. Shirley's surgery required precise coordination, but Yolanda wasn't even skilled in basic suturing. But Michael patted my shoulder and said, “Just treat it as mentoring a rookie. If anything goes wrong, I'll take the blame.” After the anesthetic was administered, Shirley's breathing gradually stabilized. I was about to use Bone Glue 03 to secure the bone when Yolanda suddenly handed me a brown bottle. "Dr. Scott, Michael said this batch of bone glue is more reliable." I didn't think much of it, but as I unscrewed the cap, a sharp chemical smell hit me. At that moment, Shirley Lincoln on the operating table suddenly began convulsing violently. The alarm from the monitor pierced my eardrums instantly, and the heart rate line plummeted like a snapped string. Yolanda's hand trembled in terror, and the bottle clattered onto the surgical tray, splattering glue onto the suture line, which instantly solidified into a hard lump. She screamed and turned, running out of the operating room. I had no time to chase after her; I reached out to touch Shirley's leg nerve. Where my fingertips touched, it was as hard as stone; the nerves and blood vessels were all stuck together. "Get ready for the amputation!" I yelled at the nurse, sweat dripping down my temple. Shirley was only nineteen, and her gymnastics career was completely destroyed because of that bottle of wrong glue. The surgery had lasted three hours. When I stepped out of the operating room holding the amputated left leg, Michael Carter was leaning against the hallway wall. Yolanda was hiding behind him, her eyes swollen like walnuts from crying. "Blair, don't blame yourself too much." Michael's voice was cold, and he didn't even ask about Shirley's condition. "She'll be in a wheelchair from now on; at least she won't have to perform those dangerous moves anymore." I gripped the surgical clamp tightly, my knuckles turning white. "You were the one who made Yolanda switch the glue, weren't you?" Michael Carter's face darkened as he shielded Yolanda behind him. "Blair Scott, what are you trying to say? Are you trying to pin the blame on Yolanda?" "She replaced the bone glue with strong adhesive—did you know that?" My voice trembled. "Shirley Lincoln will never be able to stand again. How am I supposed to explain this to her?" "I've already altered the surgical records." Michael pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and threw it in front of me. "It just states 'vascular accident embolism.' You signed it, so consider this matter settled." I stared at the imprint of the name "Blair Scott" on the paper; it was stamped in a handwriting forged to look like mine. A cold shiver ran up from my feet—I had never felt this person in front of me was so unfamiliar. I pushed the paper back. "If you want to cover for Yolanda, fine, but don't drag me into it." Michael Carter suddenly laughed, his laughter tinged with coldness. "Do you know why I let Yolanda into the operating room? Blair, don't forget what your mother did to mine all those years ago."

The trending forum post "Taking Two People Away in the Apocalypse" shows zero votes for the "frumpy wife". I'd just posted a follow-up question when Henry Shaw's call blew up my phone. "Fiona! Are you trying to ruin me with that garbage post? The whole company is laughing at me for marrying a dead weight!" "A dead weight?" I squeezed the photo of him and Lydia being intimate, sneering. "Why didn't you call me a dead weight when you were buying her limited-edition bags and slinging your arm around her shoulders?" He slammed the door open and stormed in. "Delete that post! Or you'll regret it!" "People are just telling the truth." I tapped the recording, and Lydia's cloying voice cut through the air like a knife. "Mr. Shaw, when are you going to divorce that frumpy wife?" Henry's face turned purple with rage. "You dared to investigate me?" "I just wanted to know if this family was worth it."...

That white luxury car I cherished most was driven out the door by his assistant, Susan, filled with people I didn't know, laughing so boldly. I picked up the phone, my voice so cold it sounded unfamiliar even to myself: "Follow that car and bring it back to me unharmed." My friend advised, "Maybe your husband allowed it?" I laughed, "Him? He doesn't have that kind of nerve yet." That night, Rory sat beside me, his tone reproachful: "Susan is just a young girl, playing around. Aren't you being too harsh?" I looked up at him and said each word clearly, "That is my car." He frowned, "She is my assistant. For my sake, can you not forgive her just this once?" I stood up, stared into his eyes, and finally asked the question I had been holding inside: "Rory, if one day you found that everything you rely on—your money, your car, your company—was all controlled by me, would...

The Name Carved in Error

I knelt at the end of the church's red carpet, holding the wedding ring high—engraved inside was "Reagan"—though the bride's name was Stacy. She tore off her veil with a fierce motion, her slap ringing out so sharply the stained glass seemed to tremble: "Your mother lies collapsed in the front row, and you have your first love engraved in the ring, Charles Jones—will you still go through with this marriage?" The moment the ambulance rushed in to take my mother away, I knew this wedding was over, and so were we. Three years later, holding my newborn daughter in the maternity ward corridor, I saw Stacy, soaked in blood, grin at me: "I sent her father to prison for you. Do you remember what you owe me?" I lowered my head to soothe the child, softly replying, "I remember, but the one whose life is owed is someone else; the one who owes you is your next life."收起

I, Frank, a bomb disposal expert at the police station, was wiping the bomb disposal tools that had accompanied me through countless missions. Suddenly, the walkie-talkie blared: "There's a bomb on the top floor of the Global Office Building! The suspect is holding a hostage and is demanding to see you specifically!" My heart skipped a beat. I grabbed my toolbox and rushed out. Upon arriving at the scene, the wind howled on the top floor. There, I saw that familiar figure—my ex-wife Hannah. She was clutching a remote control tightly in her hand, with a bomb wrapped in wires at her feet, and beside her stood Nora, a terrified and helpless girl. "Frank, you're finally here," Hannah's voice was shrill and frantic. "Get back together with me, or watch her die?" I tried to calm her down: "Hannah, don't act impulsively. Let's talk this through." "Talk? Do you even have the right to talk to me?" She sneered. "Choose—her,...

"Lois, hurry up and take that medicine; it's good for your health." Anthony Greenspan pushed the glass of water closer to me again, his gaze so tender it seemed about to overflow. I looked at the white pill in his hand, and for the first time, I didn't immediately take it. "Honey," I looked up at him, trying to make my voice sound as normally dependent as usual, "are you sure these are vitamins? After taking them for a few days, I keep feeling... dizzy." His expression froze for a moment, then he smiled even more warmly, "What nonsense are you saying? This is obviously vitamins. Eat up quickly; Jasmine is still waiting for us to tour the new house." I took the cup; my fingertips were icy cold. Just now, a strange line of text floated before my eyes: "The medicine he gave you is a hallucinogen, and he has long been secretly having an affair with Jasmine Scott."...

The two red lines on the pregnancy test stick glowed sharply. Filled with joy, I was about to tell Kevin the good news when the phone suddenly rang. "Fiona! Get rid of that child right now!" Vivian screamed frantically on the other end of the line. "Kevin is mine and mine only!" I gripped the phone tightly, furious beyond control. "What gives you the right to be so arrogant? Kevin and I are the legal couple!" Just then, Kevin pushed the door open, his face flushed with panic. Holding up the phone, I confronted him. "Listen to this! Is this what your so-called childhood sweetheart should do?" His eyes darted away, and he stammered, "Fiona, Vivian... she has a heart condition. She can't handle any stimulation..." "Fiona, just do this for me—terminate the pregnancy..." I cut him off, my voice breaking with tears. "Kevin, who will you choose? Her, or me and our child?" He opened his mouth, but no...
