"Mr. Lloyd, I only want to study." I clenched my fists, my voice trembling. He sneered, closing in on me: "Study? Choose—be my mistress, or marry into the Quinn family." "I won't choose!" I stepped back. "I'll repay the money you gave me, but I refuse to sell myself!" He crushed out his cigarette, roughly grabbing my chin. "Repay? With what will you repay?" Pain brought tears to my eyes, but I glared at him stubbornly: "I'll survive on my own. You won't have anything to do with me ever again!" He suddenly let out a soft laugh, his eyes filled with a possessive hunger: "Carrie, do you really think you can get away?" I shoved him aside abruptly, grabbed my canvas bag, and tried to run, but he spoke coldly from behind: "If you dare step through that door, I promise you won't have a single peaceful day in J City." My steps faltered, and I spun around to glare at him fiercely: "Tate Lloyd, what exactly do you want from me?" He closed the distance slowly, his voice heavy with unquestionable oppression: "It's simple — stay where I can see you, and never think about breaking free."收起

Chapter 1 of "The Caged Butterfly"

As the fireworks exploded outside the window, I stood in the entrance hall of the Lloyd Family villa, changing my shoes. The servant took my canvas bag, her fingertips brushing the worn edges, a barely perceptible look of disdain flickering in her eyes. I clenched the gilded admission letter in my pocket, my fingertips slick with cold sweat. Five years have passed since I was sponsored by Tate Lloyd at fifteen; this is the fifth New Year's Eve I have stepped into this cage. In the living room, the warm yellow light reflected off the expensive carpet. Tate Lloyd sat on the sofa, a cigarette poised between his fingers. Amidst the swirling smoke, his face was expressionless, his eyes cold and detached, as if gazing at something utterly insignificant. "Did you bring it?" He spoke, his voice low and devoid of any emotion. I nodded, handing over the admission letter, my voice slightly tight: "Mr. Lloyd, I've been accepted to S University." He took the letter, flipping through it carelessly, a mocking smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "S University?" He sneered, "Carrie, with your background, what good will attending S University do you?" I pressed my lips together, remaining silent. Over the years, his coldness and disdain have pierced my heart like needles—countless pricks of pain, yet I have long since grown accustomed to them. He didn't look at me again, casually tossing the acceptance letter into the nearby fireplace. The flames surged instantly, devouring the paper I had fought for twelve years to obtain. My pupils contracted sharply; instinctively, I tried to rush forward but was stopped by his icy gaze. He said, "That is fake." I was stunned, staring at him in shock. "I have already sent someone to register at the school with the real acceptance letter," he said, extinguishing his cigarette and leaning forward slightly. "But, Carrie, do you really think you have the right to choose?" My heart sank, and a sense of foreboding spread through me. "I have already arranged your future," his voice carried an unyielding authority, "Either stay by my side as my lover; or marry into the Quinn Family and become the wife of the heir of the Quinn Family." The Quinn Family? I remembered the notorious family from the rumors, and my fingertips grew cold. "Mr. Lloyd, I only want to study." I summoned my courage, but my voice trembled. He chuckled lightly, as if amused by a joke: "Study? Carrie, have you forgotten who has supported you these past five years? Your life has long ceased to be your own." Outside the window, the fireworks continued, dazzling and brilliant, yet they could not pierce the coldness within this villa. I stood frozen, feeling like a bird with broken wings, never to escape his grasp.

"Melissa! Did you do something to Rachel's illness?" Daniel grabbed my wrist. The tube of ointment dropped to his feet, and shards of glass scattered all over the floor. "She changed the ointment herself to frame me! I checked the ointment!" I trembled in pain, but still clenched my teeth to retort. "Frame you?" He sneered and punched me in the shoulder. "What do you think you are? Why should I believe you?" Rachel was wrapped in my nightgown. Her leg, wrapped in gauze, swayed slightly: "Don't scold Melissa. Maybe she just made a mistake..." "A mistake?" Daniel dragged me, trying to press me to the ground. "Kneel down and apologize to Rachel, or I'll send your sleeping photos out!" I struggled desperately, and suddenly felt a sharp pain in my lower abdomen — our child was there. "Daniel, you will regret this!" "Regret?" He tapped the send button. With my seven-month pregnant belly, I bent over to open that rusty wooden box, never imagining that inside lay the truth of my marriage. "Every letter was addressed to Lucy Lawrence..." My fingertips traced those searing words. "Todd, what exactly do you take me for?" A sharp pain surged from my abdomen, yet I fixed my gaze unwaveringly on his evasive eyes. He opened his mouth but could not utter a single word. As blood trickled down my leg, I dialed the phone. "Hello, is this Lucy Lawrence?" I looked at my husband, his face ashen, and carefully enunciated into the receiver, "You had better come here right now." Rapid breaths came from the other end of the line. Todd Harrell finally yelled, "What exactly do you want?!" I smiled, pressing my aching abdomen. "I want both of you to remember this day."收起

Cinderella's Blood Slipper

We three were raised as prospective brides of the Guthrie family. In the first life, the eldest one, Yvonne Lynn, wore the wedding dress, was pushed from the rooftop, her skull shattered. In the second life, the second eldest, Nina Flores, donned the wedding dress, drank poisoned wine, and bled from every orifice. In the third life, it was my turn; I was burned alive in the bridal chamber, the stench of scorched flesh still clings to me to this day. On the morning of the fourth life, that blood-red wedding dress lay again before our eyes. The voice of the butler, Mr. Duke, scraped against the bone like a dull blade: "Ladies, please try it on." His gaze swept over our pale faces, the corners of his mouth curling into a precise smile. "Whoever it fits... shall marry Mr. Guthrie." He paused, his murky eyes slowly turning toward me. "—Those who disobey will see their entire family perish within...

At the Fisher Family dinner party, wearing Mindy Shaw's face like a mask, I strode straight toward Lucy Scott, who was being held captive by Whitney. "Mrs. Shaw?" Whitney stepped in front of me, her eyes blazing with hostility. "Lucy is nothing but a useless wretch. Caleb loves me!" I raised my hand and slapped her hard, the sound echoing sharply through the air. "A homewrecking mistress who stole another woman's place — you're not even worthy of opening your mouth." Caleb grabbed my wrist, his gaze dark and menacing. "Mindy, how dare you lay a hand on my girl?" "Your girl?" I sneered and wrenched my wrist free, the totem on my fingertips glowing crimson. "Caleb, have you forgotten how the Scott Family helped you secure your position as CEO all those years ago? Have you forgotten how you bribed the driver to kill my adoptive parents?" His face drained of all color in an instant, and Whitney stumbled...

Double Betrayal

While rummaging through the storage room for my graduation photo album, my fingertips suddenly brushed against a cold metal case. It was an unfamiliar old DV camera. After plugging it in and turning it on, the image on the screen froze me to the spot instantly. My best friend Melody was leaning in my husband Ryan's arms, her lipstick leaving a reddish stain on his collar. "She doesn't know anything—what are you afraid of?" Melody's coquettish voice came through the speaker. Ryan's tone was indulgent: "Stop messing around. What if Melissa finds out..." "So what if she does?" Melody chuckled. "She trusts us so much; she believes everything you say." The DV camera slipped from my trembling hand, but the screen remained on. The door lock turned, and Ryan was home. He walked over with a smile, reaching out to touch me: "Did you find the photo album? Why do you look so pale?" I looked up sharply, staring intensely...
