Bounty for Broken Bonds

2026-03-04

My own mother Paris Fey stole my life-saving money to give to my brother James Waltz, and I overheard her plan to profit from a posthumous marriage after I die. In despair, I bound a cut-off family ties system: the more they hurt me, the more I profit after I expose them. So, I watched them go crazy over money, end up in prison, even lose their lives. It turned out that cutting off these bloodsucking family ties was the fastest way for me to rise and become wealthy.收起

Chapter 1 of "Bounty for Broken Bonds"

On the day I received the diagnosis, the leaves of the phoenix tree outside the window were falling. "Malignant uterine sarcoma. Surgery must be done as soon as possible." The doctor's words struck my heart like a block of ice. My name is Miley Waltz, I'm twenty-eight. Until now, I never imagined death could be so close. When I got home and checked my bankbook, I panicked. One hundred and twenty thousand—that was my life-saving money, saved over five years, and it was gone. My hands trembled as I called my mother, Paris Fey. "Where's the money? It's the money I need for surgery!" There was a pause on the other end before my brother James Waltz's voice came through: "Sis, mom gave me the money to invest. It'll double soon." My mind buzzed as if it had gone blank. Investment? James still hasn't finished paying off the gambling debts from last year. Where would he get the money to invest? I rushed out of the house, determined to go to my mother Paris Fey's home and get some answers. As I reached the stairs, I overheard voices coming from the second floor. It was my mother Paris' voice: "Once she's gone, we'll find a deceased person from a wealthy family to arrange a posthumous marriage—that'll bring in at least two hundred thousand to help you pay off the mortgage." James laughed, "Mom, you've thought of everything! By doing this, she won't be holding onto the house, either." I froze in place, feeling the blood drain from my entire body. So in their eyes, my life wasn't even worth as much as the money from a posthumous marriage. Despair crashed over me like a tidal wave; I leaned against the wall, tears flowing uncontrollably. Suddenly, a mechanical voice rang in my mind: "Extreme family oppression detected. Cut-off family ties system successfully bound." "First mission: expose Paris Fey for stealing the life-saving money. Reward: ten thousand dollars." I froze for a moment, then wiped away my tears. Expose them? Yes, I can't just let this go. I pulled out my cell phone, recorded the conversation between them, then posted it to the family group chat. Not long after, my phone chimed with a notification. "Mission complete. Ten thousand dollars has been credited to your account." Staring at the bank card balance, I gripped the cell phone tightly. This is only the beginning.

New Life at Sixty

The sun on my 60th birthday scorched the back of my neck, yet the cancer diagnosis in my hand felt icy enough to pierce my bones. I slapped the diagnosis onto the dining table and stared at Robert, who was rubbing his mahjong tiles across from me. "I have cancer—late stage," I said. He didn't even look up, his tone irritable. "How much will treatment cost? We can't touch the money for the kids' down payment on a house." My chest tightened, and my voice trembled. "The doctor said treatment is pointless. All I ask is a decent urn for my ashes after I'm gone." He finally lifted his head, his eyes filled with calculation. "Urns are expensive too. Let's split it—Going Dutch. I'll pay half." "Robert!" I slammed my palm on the table, forty years of grievances erupting in an instant. "We've shared a bed for forty years, and I don't even deserve a whole urn?" He frowned in...

"Bruce, why keep this deaf girl around? She's a waste of money and an eyesore." Bruce shot me a cold glance, his tone frosty. "Nancy, if you want the foundation's money for treatment, you'd better behave." "I didn't do anything wrong," I tightened my fists. Lydia suddenly lunged at me, sending my medicine bottle crashing to the floor. "Nothing wrong? Your very existence is a mistake! A deaf useless thing like you—how dare you take Bruce's resources?" Bruce stepped on the scattered pills, sneering. "Whether your funding gets renewed depends on whether Lydia's happy." "You can't cut off my only way out!" My voice trembled. "Can't I?" He leaned down, his eyes glinting with cruelty. "I gave you your life. I can take it back whenever I...

But when Seth Fraser showed up with breakfast, Cameron Lopez went insane, pinning me against the corner of the wall: "Who gave you permission to accept his ring?" I looked into his bloodshot eyes and suddenly laughed, "Cameron, are you jealous?" He came closer, breathing heavily, the panic behind his gold-rimmed glasses unlike anything I'd ever seen.
